My Story

bring beauty • cultivate connection

I’m a stay-at-home mom and former middle school English teacher who needed a creative outlet during baby’s naptime.

I’ve loved creating my whole life,

but it wasn’t until the fall of 2020 that I began sharing that creativity with the world.

My husband served in the US Navy, and we were stationed at a small base in the Mojave Desert of Southern California.

Painting became a lifeline that kept me sane and helped me give back to the friends I made in our small, isolated community. Together we sought to bring out all that was good and beautiful about life in such a unique place.

“What are your favorite things about this place?”

“Where do you love to go?” “What do you love to do?”
“What will you remember fondly when you leave here?”
I took the answers to these questions, and I turned them into art.

I believe beauty has power,

and I believe beautiful art has the power to connect us to one another and to make us feel connected to where we are—even when you’re transplanted in the desert.

Greeting cards. Christmas ornaments. Local landscapes. Special commissions. From my living room studio in base housing, I found a hundred different ways to meet artistic needs in my community.

I connected with other creative women.

I organized a holiday craft sale with multiple vendors at a local boutique. I taught a few painting classes. I installed a mural in our California Welcome Center.

Our time in the desert became a time of enormous growth.

In June of 2022, we moved from the Mojave Desert to the Land of 10,000 Lakes—Minnesota, where our families live.

I look forward to exploring a new world of artistic experiences in Minnesota, and I plan to continue offering the desert-themed pieces that began my artistic career!
